Huawei Announces the Watch GT 2 and New 4K Vision TV

Huawei Announces the Watch GT 2 and New 4K Vision TV

Consumer Electronics Sep 19,2019 0

Apart from the amazing Mate 30 series, Huawei's Richard also today introduced the successor of the Watch GT smartwatch, along with the Huawei Vision 4K TV.

Watch GT 2

The new Watch GT 2 adopts a slimmer and more stylish design, together with abundant wrist band choices. It comes with the Kirin A1 chip which provides strong Bluetooth connection, fast performing speed and low battery consumption. As the last generation, GT2 also can last 2 weeks with 1 charge. It can answer your phone, listen to music, and even find your phone.

The Watch GT 2 runs Huawei’s homegrown LiteOS, not Google’s Wear OS, and it ships in two sizes.

The 46mm model features a 1.39-inch OLED with 454 x 454 resolution and 22mm strap like last year’s Watch GT. The smaller, thinner, and lighter 42mm Watch GT 2 scales things back with a 1.2-inch OLED with 390 x 390 resolution and 20mm strap. Both watches are powered by Huawei’s Kirin A1 chip, with Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and optical heart rate sensors. A 5ATM rating means they’re water resistant at a depth of 50 meters for up to 10 minutes a time. They’re also loaded in sensors to make the most of the fitness tracking features.

Huawei has also added Bluetooth to the Watch GT 2, so you can now take calls from your wrist, providing the watch is within 150 meters of your phone. Huawei still says you’ll get 10 hours of battery life with Bluetooth calling. The company claims the typical scenario of battery life will be 14 days, with GPS mode providing 30 hours and music playback at 24 hours.

Huawei has added support for 15 sports, including running (road, trail, and treadmill), walking, hiking, cycling, and swimming (pool or open water), as well as gym machines and weight training. There’s also enough storage to hold 500 songs on the device, according to Huawei.

Huawei has not yet announced the pricing or release date for the Watch GT 2.

New Vision TV

Huawei announced its own 4K television, the Huawei Vision. Like the Honor Vision and Vision Pro TVs that were announced back in August, Huawei’s self-branded TV runs on the company’s brand-new Harmony OS software.

Huawei will offer 65-inch and 75-inch models to start, with 55-inch and 85-inch models coming later. The Huawei TV features quantum dot color, thin metal bezels, and a pop-up camera for video conferencing that lowers into the television when not in use. On TVs, Harmony OS is able to serve as a hub for smart home devices that support the HiLink platform.

Huawei is also touting the TV’s AI capabilities, likening it to a “smart speaker with a big screen.” The TV supports voice commands and includes facial recognition and tracking capabilities. The Vision also allows “one-hop projection” from a Huawei smartphone. The TV’s remote has a touchpad and charges over USB-C.

Huawei didn’t disclose a release date or pricing information for the Vision TV.
