Intel is mixing up 3D XPoint memory with QLC 3D NAND in a new M.2 offering which called "Intel Optane Memory H10 with Solid State Storage" designed for notebooks, all-in-ones, and small-form-factor PCs from Intel partner OEMs.

The new product apperared in some notebooks at CES and it is unclear whether it will be released in the retail market as a boxed product you can buy.

Intel plans to initially create Intel Optane Memory H10 M.2 2080 form factor sticks in capacities up to 1TB. The storage medium will feature a smaller section of faster storage (Optane) plus a section based on more affordable QLC 3D NAND. Obviously, the Optane Memory portion will intelligently stores your most-used programs and files on it instead of the traditional flash memory, improving speeds in many scenarios.

The following SKUs are being prepared by Intel for H2 this year:

  • 16GB Optane with 256GB NAND flash
  • 32GB Optane with 512GB NAND flash
  • 32GB Optane with 1TB NAND flash

The new hybrid memory will be supported by a future updates of Windows 10.
