Nifty Games Raises Over $12M in Series A Funds, Announces Deal With NFL

Nifty Games Raises Over $12M in Series A Funds, Announces Deal With NFL

Gaming Apr 15,2020 0

Nifty Games Inc., a developer and publisher focused on sports games for mobile devices, has secured more than $12 million in Series A financing, with $15 million raised to date. The company has also announced NFL Clash, a mobile-first football game that will launch later this year, revealing the company’s licenses with the National Football League (NFL) and National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).

The round was led by seed round investor March Capital Partners. Previous investors aXiomatic Gaming and Defy Partners also participated. New investors include Vulcan Capital, Courtside Ventures, Transcend Fund, Century Game and OneTeam Ventures, an investment vehicle created by RedBird Capital, the NFLPA, MLBPA, MLSPA, USWNTPA and WNBPA.

Nifty Games’ first title, NFL Clash is a mobile football game which offers NFL fans a new way to play an authentic head-to-head football game in just minutes. With mobile-first game design, NFL Clash puts NFL action in everyone’s hands wherever they are playing. To date, mobile sports games have been casual mini-games or simulations migrated from gaming consoles. Nifty Games is focused on delivering NFL fans fast, yet deep gameplay specifically designed for mobile. Fans can follow the game’s progress at https://nflclash.com.

Nifty Games’ group of investors to date also includes owners from the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, NHL and Esports. Nifty Games previously announced a partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) to bring an authentic NBA basketball game to mobile devices in the near future.

The list of National Football League video games, long dominated by the Madden franchise, is starting to grow.

Last month, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., maker of the most popular NBA franchise, struck a deal with the NFL for a game of its own. These titles won’t compete directly with Electronic Arts Inc.’s Madden series, but they will create additional outlets for fans.

In addition to forging the Nifty and Take-Two deals, the NFL has also collaborated with Epic Games to outfit Fortnite characters with team jerseys.

Verizon Communications Inc. said last week that data usage on gaming has more than doubled since before the coronavirus outbreak.
