Nvidia Adds Extra Boost to GeForce RTX With New Super Series

Nvidia Adds Extra Boost to GeForce RTX With New Super Series

GPUs Jun 14,2019 0

The Nvidia GeForce RTX Super series of graphics cards are expected to launch next month, offering some extra horsepower to the existing GeForce RTX graphics solutions along with a response to the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT.

Nvidia has already teased with something "Super" on Youtube. The company is expected to announce mid-July at least three "new" GeForce RTX Super series graphics cards, which will be based on the same architecture of the current GeForce RTX series. However, extra CUDA cores along with memory buffs make these solutions "Super", according to Nvidia.

Unconfirmed online reports already add some extra excitement to fans, claiming that the GeForce RTX 2060 Super will be a cut-down version of RTX 2070 featuring TU106-410 GPU with full 256-bit memory bus and 8GB of GDDR6.

They also hint on a faster Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 variant, augmented by a further 256 CUDA cores thanks to its TU104-410 GPU.

Finally, the GeForce RTX 2080 Super, based upon the TU104-450 GPU is said to boast 3072 CUDA cores (up from 2944) and faster GDDR6 memory (16Gbps vs 14Gbps).

On the topic of pricing, the new Super variants are supposed to launch at the MSRP of their predecessors, with the non-Super variants getting a price cut.

Rival AMD is introducing its Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT cards, which compete with the existing RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 respectively, on 7th July.
